Collagen is deposited around a backbone of polylactic acid that is injected in areas of volume loss and remains for a minimum of 2 years. This treatment is not for someone who desires immediate results.
Volume correction on the lower and mid face, elimination of intermediate and deep lines.
Avoidance of aspirin and ibuprofen for 10 days. Topical anesthetic is applied in the office prior to the procedure.
Avoidance of aspirin or ibuprofen for 3 days.
2-4 injections are usually necessary to achieve desired results spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
2 years or longer.
Allergy to polylactic acid (extremely rare)
1-2 days of swelling, up to 7 days for bruising (may be covered easily).
What is the cost if sculptra?
Sculptra is an excellent product for facial volumization. However, in our practice, we have now replaced it with fillers that provide equal results and afford less downtime (bruising) and faster correction.
