I’m curious about having razor bumps removed and what the procedure is like and the cost.
Razor bumps can be minimized and may even sometimes fully disappear if laser hair reduction is an option in the affected area. The cost depends on the area being treated. Excision of razor bumps is not recommended as it would leave unsightly scars.
Can you remove hair from the outer edges of the nose?
Hair that grows on the exposed skin of the nose (even on the rim) can be reached by laser. Hair on the moist surface of the nares, which is the part that cannot easily be seen by looking at the nose, is not yet treatable by laser.
I am a 53 year old, medium brown complected, African American woman who has coarse chin hairs and a fine mustache for many years. I always shaved the mustache but I plucked the hairs on my chin. I noticed that plucking my chin hairs was leaving dark spots and small unsightly bumps . I decided I needed a more permanent solution to get rid of the dark, bumps. I went and had laser treatments at American laser for nearly 2 years, which did absolutely nothing.In fact, I think it made my chin hairs worse. I’m thinking maybe Electrolysis may be a better option. My question is How many sessions does it usually take to treat chin hairs with electrolysis ? How much does each session cost? Also do you offer treatments to help even out skin tones or would I have to go to a separate place to treat my sensitive, blotchy skin? Lastly, Do you accept credit cards? I have insurance, But its crappy so I highly doubt it covers this.
Laser hair removal and electrolysis both destroy hair follicles permanently and are able to eventually resolve dark bumps that occur with coarse hair. Bumps that occur with repeated plucking might be scars and might not improve after either treatment.
It is difficult to provide an estimate for electrolysis. Every hair is targeted as a single unit. It takes almost one minute per hair follicle to be destroyed when performed properly. Each 15 minute session currently charges $25 and each 30 minute session is currently $50 in our office. Hair must have grown to the surface to be able to be targeted. This can take up to 4 weeks after plucking or waxing. Hair does not need to more than a tiny bit visible and may be clipped during the process. We usually recommend sessions every week or every other week.
The most common reason for failure to achieve results during laser hair removal is the use of an inadequate laser. American Laser used diode lasers for hair removal. Diode laseefr as are very efective in light complected individuals with dark hair. Nd:YAG lasers are most effective in darkly complected individuals with dark hair. Lasers do not usually the skin while there is a a small chance of scar formation with electrolysis. I general, I recommend that you try laser hair removal with an Nd:YAG laser as 6 treatments every 6 weeks are expected to deliver the best results in your circumstances. However, you may chose either Nd:YAG or electrolysis in our office.
I have hair growing on my helix, lobule, scaphoid fossa, tragus, and out of my intertragus notch…can all of these areas be treated by laser
Yes,all these areas can be treated by laser. Only hair in the external ear canal cannot be treated.

We perform laser hair reduction in the beard area and have treated many MTF transsexuals successfully. It takes 6-8 treatments to reduce hair very significantly and render any remaining hair very fine. Beard removal also requires periodic maintenance treatments about once every 6 months.

Hello, I was interested in getting laser treatment to remove the hairs on the outer tip of my nose and was wondering if laser treatment would be a good option for me. I’m African American and the hairs on the tip of my nose are a little thick.
Hair can be removed by laser if the tip of the laser can be applied to an area. This is the case on the outside of the nose, including tip. Hair on the inner aspect of our nose cannot be removed by laser.

I am getting soft white hairs all under my chin. They are coming fast and furious. I have been tweezing every few days , but that seems to produce more. I’ve heard the lazer does NOT work on white hairs. But how about electrolysis for permanent removal?

Facial laser hair reduction usually takes 6-8 treatments 4-6 weeks apart. Sun protection is a must for 6 weeks after each treatment. If you are not already properly protecting your face from the sun’s damaging rays, we recommend that you learn and practice proper sun protection before you embark on any facial laser treatment, especially when several treatments are ahead of you. If you trust yourself to be diligent, you can start laser treatment regardless of the season. If you cannot comply with sun protection, you should not receive treatment due to inevitable and sometimes permanent side effects. If you believe that fall through spring will make it easier for you to practice diligent protection, you may time your laser hair reduction accordingly. Please take a sunny winter vacation into consideration. Laser hair reduction can begin 4 weeks after unprotected or under-protected sun exposure of the treatment area
Proper sun protection includes application of a broad spectrum sunscreen SPF50+ and reapplication every 2 hours when outdoors.
