Treatments: CO2 laser, fractionated lasers and devices, TCA peel
UVA exposure is the most common cause for extrinsic aging. It does not only cause small and large freckling (sun spots), but induces thickening of the skin or even skin cancer formation. Daily use of a UVA and UVB filtering sunscreen, frequent reapplication when in the sun, as well as sun protective clothing help to prevent these changes.
Vitamin D formation still occurs unless you are hiding from the sun inside. Superficial sun damage, e.g. pigmentary changes, can be corrected as described under sun spots. Fine and intermediate wrinkling responds to all of the above mentioned treatments, whereas the CO2 laser is also able to lessen deep wrinkles.

| 2009-04-06 16:37:26 | Dr. Ringpfeil is extremely knowledgeable about her field. She also put me at ease immediatley and made me feel quite at home. I will definatley return once a year for her to check me. Her assistant and the receptionists were most helpful and very nice and more than happy to comply with their patients' wishes. Should anyone be searching for a dermatologist, I highly recommend Dr. Ringpfeil. |

I would like the removal of very small age spots on one hand. The other hand was already done abroad. I would appreciate info on the cost of laser removal?
Sun or age spots are common on the hands and can effectively be removed using a laser that specifically targets pigment. Depending on the intensity of the sun spots, 1-3 treatments 4-6 weeks apart are needed to remove them. With proper application of a potent UVA filtering sunscreen, you can even prevent new ones from forming. The treatment per session for both hands is $300, but if less than 10 spots total are present, the charge will be smaller.
