Treatments: CO2 laser, fractionated lasers and devices, TCA peel
UVA exposure is the most common cause for extrinsic aging. It does not only cause small and large freckling (sun spots), but induces thickening of the skin or even skin cancer formation. Daily use of a UVA and UVB filtering sunscreen, frequent reapplication when in the sun, as well as sun protective clothing help to prevent these changes.
Vitamin D formation still occurs unless you are hiding from the sun inside. Superficial sun damage, e.g. pigmentary changes, can be corrected as described under sun spots. Fine and intermediate wrinkling responds to all of the above mentioned treatments, whereas the CO2 laser is also able to lessen deep wrinkles.
